UOPC is one of
the finest pre-schools that you will ever find. We enjoy a reputation of
excellence and quality with all of the local elementary schools. Please
ask your friends, neighbors and local schools for their opinion of Upper
Octorara. Also, we welcome you to come in for a visit where you can visit all of the classrooms and formulate your own opinion.
History
We opened our doors in September of 1993 with one person’s dream for a safe place for children to grow spiritually, socially, intellectually, physically, and emotionally. She had 24 students, two teachers, and one classroom assistant. She also had the blessing of our church and our Lord. We are now in our 17th year and have continued to grow each year. UOPC now has 125 children, a staff of twelve and ten classes. There is a Board of Directors that meets once a month to review the financial needs, as well as the over all operations of the pre-school. They are very dedicated to this
endeavor and keep us true to our Mission. We always have four voting members on
this board who are parents of enrolled students.
Mission
UOPC is here to serve this community and surrounding areas. We strive to teach the skills of life and also of love. Little children learn to handle the struggles and joys of life: sharing, patience, losing, winning, disappointment, and hope. We do this in a secure environment of simple trust.
Philosophy
Upper Octorara Presbyterian Church pre-school believes in the family unit. We strive to involve both parents and grandparents in the growth of each child. In the year 2010 the family
unit may have a different configuration than that of 1993, but we continue to try to understand and meet the needs of all of our children. We truly believe that God gives us these children, and it is our mission to enrich them and grow them in all that they can be to His glory.
Our staff is constantly attending workshops, taking graduate courses, and sharing ideas to keep us current and available to your needs.
